AMC FearFest 2016 Lineup

With streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon, there’s a vast digital library of Halloween entertainment at our fingertips whenever we desire. With so many options, it’s easy to get decision paralysis when it comes to finding the perfect selection to fit the mood.

When we were growing up, part of the joy of the season came from flipping through the channels and seeing the yearly Halloween programming. Halloween episodes of your favorite TV shows, childhood Halloween specials that only aired during that festive time of year, and of course, the countless hours of horror movie marathons.

We love when the television industry gets in the spirit and unleashes their collection of nostalgic Halloween favorites. One cable channel that never lets us down is AMC and their annual FearFest which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

What began in the 1990s as a weeklong airing of horror programming in late October called “Monsterfest” has evolved into an almost monthlong marathon of thrills, chills, and screams beginning this Thursday, October 13th and running through Halloween.

    1. I always look forward to movies like pumpkinhead..and evil dead older versions instead of lots of episodes of walking dead…just alittle disappointed..

  1. Some what better line up from last year really don’t why they need to show every episode of walking dead during fear fest though, also wish they would show the older classics like the universal monsters and hammer movies

    1. We never got a chance to get into The Walking Dead, so we’re not super hyped about that part. We like the horror marathons, but we agree that it’d be cool if they included some classic Universal monster movies. Thank you for reading and commenting! Have a Happy Halloween!

  2. I have been watching amc since I was in high school and that is when I was first introduced to “Monsterfest” which was changed accordingly to “Fearfest”. I always look forward to this time of year it’s probably my favorite if you’re fast has always been a tradition for me to keep on throughout the Halloween season . I guess since it’s the 20th anniversary they started showing it earlier because I don’t remember it’s starting this early in October usually was about two weeks before Halloween that it would begin . Now they are giving us 18 days of classic scary movie marathons like Original Halloween and fri the 13th which I think is funny since it’s fri the 14th tomorrow . Lineup this year is prob so good because it’s 20th year and it’s more of the original programming . Wish I still watched walking dead . Stopped during beginning of 4th season but then now I feel like I can’t catch up to the 7th

    1. Love that this year’s line up has so many good horror franchise marathons and that it started earlier. A lot of cool things seem to be celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, and we’re glad AMC got in the spirit. Never got into the Walking Dead unfortunately, but we should watch the first few seasons to see what all the hype is about. Thank you for reading and commenting! Have a Happy Halloween!

  3. …there are other horror films out there other than Halloween and Friday the 13th. Psychological thrillers, classics, some new horrors even but every year it seems to be the same, and the days are repetitive. Love AMC, but it’s not the best fear fest

  4. AMC’s Fearfeast has been a traditional part of our Halloween for 20 years now. Not having it would be like Christmas without a Santa Claus parade!. And we have had no complaints till this year……don’t get me wrong “The Walking Dead” is a good show, but for those of us that never really got into it is making Fearfeast annoying. I want to be fathful to our traditions but we find ourself watching more of The Syfi channel as there line up is more like AMC used to be!. Some of us still enjoy good old monster and scary movies, there’s more to life than the walking dead guys!!.

    1. Having never gotten into TWD, we understand what you mean. We will definitely look into SyFy’s lineup. A good mix of SyFy, AMC, Netflix, & Hulu… with a few classics we own on DVD should keep us supplied with great Halloween entertainment through the month. Thank you for reading and commenting, Gale! Have a Happy Halloween!
