The film premiered in March at 2016’s South by Southwest Film Festival and was adapted from the 2009 novel by Dan Wells. Staring Christopher Lloyd, Max Records, Christina Baldwin, and Laura Fraser, the film is a subgenre blend of sci-fi, slasher, and mystery.

I Am Not a Serial Killer is the story of a teenage boy named John Wayne Cleaver (played by Max Records) who is diagnosed as a sociopath and must actively fight the inner urge to kill. When brutal murders start taking place in his town, Cleaver begins a quest to find the killer.  Once he starts uncovering the mystery, he soon finds out this is no ordinary murderer.

With stellar performances from the film’s leads, beautiful shots from director Billy O’Brien, and a moody soundtrack, I Am Not a Serial Killer is a Netflix horror pick you shouldn’t miss.
